I’m finally posting our gorgeous Nassau, Bahamas elopement from Thanksgiving Day! Elopement & destination wedding photography is definitely something I want to do more of- it’s fast paced, full of adventure, and we get to see stunning locales we might not otherwise travel to. When we flew to The Bahamas to photograph Agnes & Jimmy’s intimate wedding ceremony & portraits we were so excited to actually revisit a familiar venue, the gorgeous French Cloisters at The One And Only Ocean Club on Nassau. It’s a French monastery that William Randolph Hearst purchased and imported in 1920 and was finally rebuilt in the 60’s. We had been there almost exactly 3 years earlier for Sam & Jenny’s destination wedding. Agnes arranged for us to do their portrait session at the cloisters following their ceremony at Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island. It was the windiest day- 35 mph gusts to be exact and I was almost sure that there was a tropical storm no one told us about. We met the wedding party at the cruise pier and boarded the tourbus to head to the private beach. I loved the setup so much- a circular arrangement of chair for all the guests. The wind was so crazy that all the guests ended up staying around the bride and groom so they could hear the vows! I was so thankful to arrive at the monastery where the columns shielded us from the elements, but we did still capture some stunning windswept portraits on the beach too. The gardens really are the most amazing place- something that you can tell didn’t originate on the island but somehow belongs right there with the sounds of the sea and smell of salty air. If I had to only shoot in one place for the rest of my career it would be here.
