We just returned home from our destination wedding in North Carolina. We are exhausted from the amazing adventures we had and I cannot wait to show you photographs from Tiffany & Brad’s beautiful mountainside wedding at Addison Farms Vineyard. Since our family vacation to Asheville last year, it has definitely become one of our favorite cities. We may have made quite a few hipster jokes during our visit but the food, hospitality and cute coffee shops were plentiful. Here is a little recap of our travels.
We flew into Greenville, South Carolina on Thursday and were greeted by much cooler weather- yay sweaters! We had a date night in downtown Greenville and scouted Falls Park where we shot the next day. We ate at an amazing BBQ restaurant called Smoke on the Water- we are always looking for the best BBQ food wherever we go and this was it.
Falls Park on the Reedy River in the middle of downtown Greenville was gorgeous. You get completely transported to wilderness even though it’s right in the middle of the city. If you follow the river there is 15 miles of hiking to do. We didn’t do that much but explored a tiny bit after our session with Courtney & Korey and then we got coffee at a little place called Spill The Beans. The coffee was great and the barista liked my scarf.
After that we packed up and headed up the scenic route toward Asheville. We stopped at a cute little town called Traveler’s Rest per Korey’s advice and bought some moonshine. Then we took a detour to a hiking spot where we tried to find a waterfall before realizing we were way out of our league and also I stepped on a Copperhead snake (and then stood on it confused because Evan wasn’t articulating himself well). We ended up hiking only 1.5 miles before turning back but covered 6,000 feet in elevation so I still feel like a badass.
After arriving in Asheville, we checked into our adorable hotel which was much more like a Parisian apartment and they had a fridge full of cold sodas downstairs and snacks whenever we needed. We got to head out for another date and ate which started at Grove Park Inn for sunset and then we ate at LAB- Lexington Avenue Brewery which had more amazing food and beer.
The view from out hotel in downtown Asheville. We were right across the street from this awesome bakery called Old Europe and they had lattes in the morning and wine at night. I think we visited about 3 times. Saturday morning we relaxed a bit and then headed out of town for Tiffany & Brad’s wedding. We drove up through some cool little towns, stopped and got some wedding day nutritional staples at an Ingles and had a quick hike at a highway lookout spot before arriving at the getting ready cabin. After the wedding we headed back to Asheville, backed up our data and put the copies in our hotel safe and headed across the street to a different bar for drinks and some football.
Then Sunday morning we woke up early to meet a sweet couple from Tennessee at Vortex donuts for a consult. Such perfect timing to be able to meet them in person and we get to shoot their wedding next June! We explored the city a little more, checked out murals and might have stopped back by Vortex for another donut on the way out of town and back to Greenville for our flight. On the way back down we stopped at Skytop Apple Orchard and got some amazing cider and apples with caramel sauce. Totally perfect roadside stop. It was such a beautiful trip. We even stopped at Smoke again for lunch before our flight because we could not stop talking about the mac n’ cheese and the potato skins filled with pulled pork and BBQ sauce. I’ve made a Whole30 approved version twice already this week at home. They are sooooo good.
