This weekend is a big one for us shooting-wise! Today we have an epic styled shoot that has been in the works for 4 years (seriously, make sure you check Instagram for behind the scenes) and we have Kim & Jason’s wedding tomorrow. A lot of times we get asked about gear by other photographers and sometimes brides so I wanted to share a post about what’s in our camera bag.
This is just some of our gear- but it is most of what we bring to every single wedding and shoot we have.
Main Gear
2 Nikon D750’s This is our main body and we absolutely love these cameras.
2 Nikon D300s’ We each have a backup body and this is our go to because, like the D750, it has a dual card slot which is really important to our backup procedures and workflow. We also shot primarily on these for years and they’re real workhorses.
Nikon 70-200mm 2.8
Nikon 85mm 1.8
Nikon 50mm 1.4
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Tamron 85mm 2.8 macro
Sigma 35mm 1.4
(Not pictured) Spider Holster. T’s my awesome cowboy-esque hip belt where I keep my phone, data, extra lens and I can hang my camera there for hands free things like handling the wedding gown or occasional sprinting.
Accessories
2 Nikon SB700 flashes and 2 SB600’s for backup. Plus we each have a set of radio triggers + receivers for off camera flash work (those epic first dance photos with the light flare behind the couple).
2 main and 2 backup camera batteries, AA and AAA batteries for accessories.
(Not pictured) Large light diffuser and small 5 sided bounce board for lighting portraits.
Gray card for color sampling later in post.
SD card reader for day of slideshow import.
(Not pictured) Apple macbook Air for day of slideshow edit & iPad for slideshow.
Light stands
Pelican case & lots of SD cards- we shoot about 4 cards per wedding (2 primaries and 2 backup duplicates).
Extras
Pocket knife- this baby comes in handy at every wedding
Bling wipes- for when people forget to have their ring cleaned.
Lip gloss for touch ups + a fan for 105 degree summer weddings in FL.
Business cards, hand sanitizer & pen.
(Not pictured) Day of Timeline + shot list.
I’m sure I’m forgetting some things too. The point is we carry a lot of gear with us and these are our most trusted pieces of equipment. Hope you had fun taking a peek inside our camera bags!
