What better way to say hooray to the first day of Fall than with this mountain engagement session from our trip to Colorado. Hopefully you saw our behind the scenes video of our trip by now, it was one really fun weekend with amazing people. We genuinely like spending time with all our couples so adding a 4 or 5 hour total car ride to the mix with Clarissa & Rob was perfectly fine with us. Because when you get invited to go to Rocky Mountain National Park for your session you don’t say no. We got up early and found donuts and coffee for breakfast and they packed awesome snacks and subs for all of us for lunch. We talked wedding details but mostly told stories and jokes and talked about lots of movies and GoT too.
Right off the bat into our car trip we were seeing epic locations, lush foresty areas and tundra! The tundra was pretty cool. I have to give mad props to Rob for being an amazing driver as there seemed to be countless opportunities for us to fall off the mountain which we did not. Great job, Rob. Also they had extra sweaters for us. Everyone assumes Floridians will freeze whoever we go and they are right. These guys are so easy to be around and so relatable that they were making us feel like old friends! Here are a few fun facts:
♥ Clarissa & Rob are high school sweethearts! And they went to UF together. It was a very UF trip.
♥ Their dog’s name is Luna and they have 2 cats, Dali and Phoenix.
♥ They are kind of outdoorsy, with their fancy park pass, and they knew all the hiking spots within Rocky Mountain National Park.
I was incredibly winded walking up this mountain. We saw a very cool animal called a marmot who was sunning himself on a rock. We also kept great pace with a family with small children who somehow kept passing us every single time we stopped to breathe for a minute. I’m honestly exhausted again looking at these.
After tundra-land we ventured around the scariest part of the mountain road where I may have focused on a box of Cheeze-its instead of looking out the window. Colorado is beautiful, I don’t need to hang off a mountain to see that. Luckily I was on the inside side of the car and Evan switched with me on the way back. We made it to our destination- a stunning valley with a full blown meadow. This was photo-gold for us Floridians. I mean, do you see this place?! Pure magic.
Here is my Brenzier method shot of the scenery- it was like a fairytale.
Next week I’ll share our downtown Denver session with Sarah & Kasey from the same trip! Very different scenery but equally beautiful and fun.
