I wanted to title this “The one where they went to Narnia” but apparently that’s not good for SEO. It has been 3 weeks since our trip to Denver, even though it feels like only a week- where has September gone?! Oh that’s right, hurricane Irma. Yeah… we were super wishing we were back in Colorado during that entire fiasco. But this trip was amazing and I’m excited we took so much behind the scenes footage that Evan created a video of our trip and our two amazing couples; Sarah & Kasey, and Clarissa & Rob.
We are shooting both of their weddings here in Florida but they happen to live within an hour of each other in Colorado and we were all able to coordinate a trip where we could shoot both of their engagement sessions in the same weekend. We flew into Denver on a Saturday, checked into our hotel, and found awesome food- a burger place called 5280 (man I miss that burger) and then by the evening we had met up with Sarah & Kasey and their brilliant pup Lucy for our first session of the trip in Commons Park and at Union Station in downtown Denver close to where they live.
After photo-amazingness we went with Sarah & Kasey to dinner at a brewery which was SO much fun and then we turned in because we had to get up super early the next day. Clarissa & Rob came and picked us up at about 7am, we were tired but pumped to explore Rocky Mountain National Park! First we went to Habit Doughnut Dispensary for… doughnuts, duh. They apparently had whiskey-donuts but we didn’t want Rob or Evan under the influence during the session/driving on scary mountain roads so we agreed to come back after the session if it was still open.
Seriously everything is breathtaking there. Stop showing off, Colorado.
We shot, we hiked, we got in the car to explore more…. then we found Narnia! This amazing meadow that they told us about and made sound oh-so-mgical really was even better than it sounded. In between the mountains was this meadow of long grass and fields of flowers. Take that, Florida. So much epic-ness. I think we overshot just behind the scenes here because um, how amazing do we look shooting in a meadow?
Seriously, look at how happy we look in the damn meadow! It was amazing y’all.
And then of course the boys HAD to have whiskey donuts… so we returned. It was like 5 or 6 hours total of hanging out with Clarissa & Rob, so it’s a good thing they are freacking hilarious and amazing company. With so many hours in the car we talked but also listened to comedy sketches, talked about movies and ate lots of Cheese-its to curb mountain-sickness which is a thing apparently.
Then after a nap, because we were exhausted, we refueled with coffee and met back up with Kasey & Sarah for Game of Thrones. We were very concerned to be out of town and in a hotel that may or may not have HBO. We needed security that we would be able to watch the GoT finale. Our couple pulled through big time and invited us over to their place. We have no pictures of us eating pizza and screaming at the TV in all the glory that was all the begging but it’s in the video, and Lucy did tricks for us. Gah she’s the cutest! The next morning, so much coffee and a trip to a candy store to bring treats home for the munchkin. Such an amazing trip we’ll never forget. Thank you all so much for making it possible for us to come out to you and experience all the amazing places you showed us ♥
